After a series of meetings and discussions, backed by considerable prayer, we have put together our church profile. The full text can be found here. The summary is as follows.

Stoke St. Gregory is a rural village with a population of approximately 1,200. The church is situated on a hill with stunning views over the Somerset levels. There is a 3-4 bedroomed Manse built next to the chapel. Within the last five years the chapel has been extensively refurbished.

The Church meets for worship on Sunday mornings at 10.30 am and there is a mid-week home group for bible study and prayer.Over recent years our membership has grown to 47. Most age ranges are represented including Junior Church. We are a friendly, inclusive and relaxed church family who enjoy a blend of contemporary and traditional styles of worship. The church has a strong belief in working together and has remained open to working with other churches. We provide a wide variety of activities serving the church family and wider community. The Church also has links with the village church school and pre-school.

As a congregation we wish to be a church that is relevant for the 21st century. The church’s vision is to follow a clear Christian message using everyday language. We are open to exploring new ways of developing this. We want to continue with other churches to deepen links within the village and schools in order to help to foster a Christian community. We would like to increase the existing fellowship and develop pastoral outreach into the surrounding area. Please see our facebook page for more details on some of our activities.

Our Verse for 2024

"For I know the plans I have for you," dec;ares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you."
